The Living Well Centre provides a range of support therapies, including medical, nursing, rehabilitation and wellbeing support. All are available throughout the year and can be accessed by local people
Our Living Well services support both patients, families and carers by helping our patients to ‘live well’ and improve their quality of life. We do this by symptom management and addressing the individual concerns of our patients and by offering support practical support to families and carers.
As a volunteer within our Living Well services you will be making a real difference to the lives of our patients and their families. Whether it’s volunteering in our Living Well Centre, with our Counselling and Bereavement team or our Spirtual Care team you can be sure that the time you donate to us will make an impact within the community.
We have general roles for volunteers to help out on our Living Well days chatting with our patients, helping with coffee and lunch, as well as more skilled roles such as that of volunteer counsellors or complementary therapists.
What role do our Living Well and Counselling service volunteers do?
We have wide variety of roles within our Living Well Centre. Our services include support for 3 days a week for patients attending our Living Well Days. We also run complimentary therapy sessions for both patients and carers. Our bereavement team offer bereavement support both face to face for individuals as well as support through our community bereavement help points. We also have volunteer chaplins as part of our spirtual care team. You will see that we have many varied roles and opportunities listed below. What skills do I need?
To be a volunteer for our Living Well days you do not need any specific skills. However, you will need to be good with people, friendly and approachable. For other roles such as complimentary therapist, volunteer counsellor or spiritual care the skills and requirements will be listed with the job description.
How much time do I need to give?
For roles within our Living Well service, the hours are flexible but will depend on the roles you are carrying out. This will be outlined in the job decription.
Where will I be based?
The majority of roles for our Living Well serviceare based at the Hospice in Backford. However, for some roles such as our Bereavement Help Point volunteers may be based in locations within the community.
