Every day is different working with our Facilities team, but every day is a day well spent, helping us to ensure that our building, grounds and facilities are well kept allowing us to continue to deliver end of life care to the people of Chester and West Cheshire.

Whether you are helping out with a decorating project, putting up shelves or jet washing the paths and walk ways you will be doing something different every day.

Our Facilities team work with every department across the Hospice, they are ‘the mortar that hold our bricks together’.

Not only will you know that you are making a difference, but you will get to meet so many new people and make new friends.

In this department, you truly are ‘Team Hospice’.

What does a facilities volunteer do?

A wide variety of maintenance and gardening task to make sure the Hospice always looks its best and is a safe and pleasant environment for our patients, their visitors and our staff and volunteers.

What skills do I need?

You will need some basic  skills such as general gardening, DIY, painting and decorating and driving. We will always make sure you have the right training to carry out the tasks required.

How much time do I need to give?

A volunteering session is usually 3 to 4 hours, and volunteers will usually work one or two sessions a week.  We find that most people like to have a regular time session on the rota as it helps them to plan their social time and of course it helps us when we are planning our weekly scheduling.

Where will I be based?

Our facilities volunteers are usually based at the Hospice in Backford but occasionally we may ask you to visit one of our shops to carry out a task.

We currently have vacancies in our facilities team.
