We have 6 charity shops and a distribution centre located across Chester and West Cheshire that are run by a manager but need the support of volunteers to ensure it runs smoothly

Volunteering opportunities are not always working directly with our patients but we can assure you that any volunteering that you do will always help the Hospice and in turn our patients.

Our Retail shops generate an income that allows us to continue the work we do in supporting local people living with a life limiting illness.

Whether it’s helping out in our distribution centre by sorting and preparing donations to go the shops, PAT testing donated electrical items, helping out with our Ebay business or delivering stock to our shops in our van we will have an opportunity for you.

How about dressing a shop window, creating a display, assisting a customer to make a purchase, or thanking someone for donating their preloved items to us  there are so many fun things that you can do as a shop volunteer.

We will teach you how to spot your Prada from your Primark… getting the best value for our donated stock. You might learn how to list items on our Ebay site or hone your customer service skills.

What does a shop volunteer do?

Volunteering in a charity shop will allow you to learn new, transferable skills. You will meet customers, accept donations of stock and talk to customers about gift aid. You will also be responsible for keeping the shop looking clean and attractive .  You will also make lots of new friends.

What skills do I need?

All you need is to be friendly and welcoming, able to chat with customers, the ability to handle money and be flexible and willing to do any of the shop tasks.

How much time do I need to give?

A volunteering session in one of our shops is usually 3 to 4 hours, and volunteers will usually work one or two sessions a week.  We find that most people like to have a regular time session on the rota as it helps them to plan their social time and of course it helps us when we are planning our weekly scheduling.
