Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is a unique sculpture in the reception area of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd, where it is enjoyed daily by patients, friends, staff and volunteers. Created especially for the Hospice by local tree carver Simon O’Rourke, the Giving Tree has 200 coloured leaves carved from wood. The leaves are engraved with the names of loved ones and messages of love.

You are able to choose the inscription, the type of wood and the colour. As well as contributing to a unique piece of art, by donating to the project you are helping us continue our vital work of caring for those with life-limiting illness. There are currently three leaf options:

  • £85 will pay for a home visit from one of our clinical nurse specialists
  • £150 will pay towards blood transfusions
  • £350 will pay for a whole 24 hours of care for one of our in-patients

After your leaf has spent a year on the Giving Tree, we’ll get in touch to ask whether you’d like to renew your donation. If not, then we’ll send you the leaf to keep.
