Over 650 walkers turned out to the 2007 Sunrise Stroll, and even though the sun didn't shine for the walkers, they were 'Walking on Sunshine' the entire 18km.
Despite the weather being wet and miserable there was not one walker who let it put a damper on their enthusiasm. Event organiser Jemma Hamilton added “It was uplifting to see so many smiling faces when people crossed the finish line, everyone held their chin up high and soldiered through the rain. We are so grateful to everyone who took part and hope to see everyone again next year, along with the sun!”
Last years Sunrise Stroll raised over £50,000 for the Hospice, which provides over a weeks running costs for the Hospice. In 2008 with your help we hope to double the amount raised.
This year we have listened to our 2007 participants and decided to have a route 7miles as well as the longer 12 mile/18km route. This route finishes at Chester Zoo, where there will be complimentary buses to transport walkers back to the racecourse for a well earned breakfast (bacon/veggie bap) and medal to mark their achievement.
If you do not wish to participate in the walk but would like to help out in some other way, i.e marshalling, giving out medals, registeration, refreshments please click here for a Volunteer application form.
If you would like to take part in this year's Sunrise Stroll, which is being held on Sunday 25th May at 5.00am from Chester Racecourse, please contact Jemma Hamilton in Fundraising for an entry form: 01244 851811 or
