Schools put the “FUN” into Fundraising
BAD HAIR DAY CAMPAIGN
22nd October 2010
IS YOUR SCHOOL READY TO TAKE UP THE CHALLENGE?
Bad Hair Day is a fun way FOR YOUR School to get involved and support the Hospice of the Good Shepherd by allowing pupils to “wear a wacky hairstyle” on Friday 23rd October.
How it Works
In return for a donation to the Hospice, pupils can attend school with “Bad Hair”. This can be as simple or as extreme as you allow. From spiking their hair wearing bunches or a fun wig; how the child develops his or her bad hair is part of the fun. The school that raises the most money will win a trophy.
What you will get
Once you register we will send you a complete resource pack to help ensure you won’t be pulling out your hair on BAD HAIR DAY!
- 2 x A4 promotional posters about Bad Hair Day for you to advertise the event to your pupils.
- Hospice of the Good Shepherd Schools Fundraising leaflets.
- On some occasions we are also able to provide a member of our Hospice staff who are able to give a short talk about our care services to the pupils.
- Following the event each school will receive a certificate stating the total amount raised.

Visiting Primary Schools

Maes Edwin Primary School in Flint Mountain, Flintshire invited our Fundraisers to talk to the children about fundraising and the work of the Hospice. The morning proved to be a success by engaging the pupils in an interactive session. This resulted in raising awareness of Hospice care amongst the pupils and encouraged creative ideas for future school fundraising.
Further to this session, John Plunkett, Head Teacher at the school visited the Hospice to take a look around and see the services that the Hospice provides. Following his visit we arranged for the pupils to come to the Hospice and sing for the day patients. Everyone really enjoyed the afternoon and the children left with further enthusiasm for their local Hospice.
Community Fundraiser. Lauren Evans is now looking to working closely with the school and bringing some of the children’s wonderful ideas to life.
We have a new Hospice Mascot called PAWZ who can come along with our Schools Fundraiser, Lauren to give an interactive session about the Hospice to the pupils. If you would like to get involved in school fundraising for the Hospice or arrange a Hospice talk as part of a lesson. If any school or nursery would like to get involved with your local Hospice please call Lauren on 01244 851811 or click here to use our Online Response Form.
