A LIFETIME GIFT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Last year a group of kind people raised over £400,000 for the Hospice of the Good Shepherd – they are people who left gifts in their Wills. This is a huge endorsement of our work and we would like to thank everyone who is supporting us in this way.
Legacies are very important to us as without them we would struggle to continue to provide our specialised care, let alone develop our services for the future. Many people leaving a gift in their Will have seen at first hand the value of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd’s services – through care for a family member or a friend – and want to leave a legacy so that they can continue their support after death.
There are three types of legacy:
- Residuary – what remains after specific bequests to others
- Pecuniary – a fixed sum
- Specific – a property or other named item
Living Legators
Letting us know that your will includes a gift to the Hospice of the Good Shepherd is especially valuable. It allows us to plan for the future and to help you direct your legacy to the areas of work that you value most. It also means that we can express our gratitude to you.
This is one of the main reasons why two members of our Fundraising Team have already pledged to leave a gift to the Hospice. Both have experienced the personal loss of close family members at the Hospice and they wanted to do something that would have a lasting impact. They also felt that they wanted to make a contribution, whatever the gift that would eventually benefit the Hospice and ensure the future care of others.
